Moscape Inc was founded in July 1997 by Chandrasekhara (Chandra) Somanathan who was a Principal Engineer with the renowned Alpha RISC Microprocessor design team at Digital Equipment Corporation, Hudson, Massachusetts, USA. Moscape raised multi million dollar venture capital and corporate financing with leading semiconductor industry veterans on the board of directors. Company assembled experienced executive, engineering, sales and marketing teams, developed patented technology and revenue generating electronic design automation products for top tier customers in the deep submicron Very Large Scale IC design market. Company was incubated at the San Jose Software Business Cluster, 2 North First St, San Jose, California offices in 1997 and grew to a larger facility at 3990 Freedom Circle, Santa Clara, California in 1998. Seiko Instruments, Tokyo, Japan represented as distributors for the Asia Pacific region, Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro (now Pillsbury Winthrop), Palo Alto, California as the legal counsel and Townsend, Townsend and Crew (now Townsend Kilpatrick), Palo Alto, California as the patent counsel. Company merged with Magama Design in 2000 and successfully executed a combined company IPO in 2001 (NASDAQ:LAVA) with follow-on acquisition by Synopsys Inc (NASDAQ:SNPS) to eastablish leadership positon in the Electronic Design Automation market.
